Ranee Heard – Primal Osteopathy

Introducing Ranee: Your Dedicated Primal Osteo

Hey there! My name is Ranee, one of the Osteopaths working here at Primal Physiotherapy. I attended Victoria University, where I graduated with a joint Bachelor and masters of Osteopathy. I’m originally from the country, a beach side town called Portland, in Victoria. I feel this has engrained an affinity for the beach or a body of water of any kind, naturally! Outside of work, you’ll find me out for a run, participating in a few running events, hiking, at the beach, reading, and if I’m being honest, exploring bakeries for a good almond croissant!

I moved to Melbourne in 2009 to study Nursing, and with this, have developed an extensive history of working within the healthcare industry. I have had a passion for helping others since before I can remember, this passion grew over my time working as a nurse and will continue to evolve in my role as an Osteopath.

My introduction to osteopathy came about through experiencing a few injuries of my own. On my journey to recovery, the osteopath handled my care with a holistic and person-centred approach, providing encouragement to stay active where possible, and reassurance that I will return to my original activity levels over time. The practitioner also made sure to educate me every step of the way so that I understood my injuries, and the recovery process, allowing for a more positive experience.

This experience helped me to understand what I was missing in my role as a nurse. I too wanted to help people in this way, shift the focus away from pain, and encourage enjoyment in the recovery process. Ultimately, guiding you back to feeling your normal selves again, restoring confidence, and improving quality of life.

Whilst studying Osteopathy, I saw many patients over my 2 years in the university osteopathy clinic. When I was able to see the progress within my patients from their initial consultation, to their final, I knew for sure that this profession was for me! Following a patient through their journey, and witnessing them return to their daily activities and hobbies, happier, and feeling whole again fulfills in me an innate passion for improving the lives of others.

As your osteopath, we’ll work together to create a treatment plan tailored specifically to you and your goals. During a session with me there will be an element of manual therapy where I’ll utilise an array of hands on techniques such as soft tissue therapy, myofascial release, high-velocity, low-amplitude (HVLA), and joint articulations, to name a few. Additionally, therapeutic exercise, education, and lifestyle considerations will also be incorporated into your treatment, fostering a well-rounded positive experience, as well as setting you on the path of desired outcomes.

I look forward to seeing you soon!
