Lisa Tran

Director and Clinical Educator

“After a few years in the industry, I was unimpressed, demotivated and the outlook for quality healthcare looked bleak. Instead of being a part of that, I wanted to change the way we approached healthcare and not leave anyone behind – everyone deserves excellent healthcare. We opened Primal ® with the vision to revolutionise healthcare and put our client’s health at the forefront of our business. I am passionate about our industry and I am committed to making a difference in our client’s lives. We do not just treat an injury, we treat the person and in turn, change their lives.” – Lisa Tran.

HAMSTRING ASSESSMENT RESULTS 🏃🏻‍♀️ Well the results are in! I must say this client presented VERY well despite what the scan says. In fact, the day before he came to me, he had ran 5kms with minimal issues. Based on the assessment, the location of pain did indicate that the tear would likely be in the musculotendinous junction, although the extent of the tear did not reflect his function. He was able to run, single leg bridge and also jump! You will come across many clients where they scan does not reflect their pain or dysfunction - so treat what you see and how your client presents! #physio #physiostudent #dpt #osteo #myo #osteostudent #chiro #university #physiotherapy #uom #degree #doctorofphysiotherapy #physicaltherapy #pt

👀 HAMSTRING ASSESSMENT 💥 Today, let’s dive into the world of basic hamstring assessment! 🤔 WHY HAMSTRINGS MATTER:Our hamstrings play a vital role in everyday movements and sports performance. They help with knee flexion, hip extension, and very important as our running increases in speed. Although picking up a hamstring strain can be quite easy with a subjective and objective assessment, the EXTENT can be much harder to pinpoint. Between a grade 1 vs 3, can be a difference of a few weeks for return to sport, whilst a tear involving the musculotendinous junction can also add in more time. It’s important to gauge the level so that we can play a return to sport. If I’m unsure, I will usually allow one week to past by to see how quickly a client has improved and do my re-assessments - this can give a great indication as to how severe a tear can be too!#physio #physiostudent #dpt #osteo #myo #osteostudent #chiro #university #physiotherapy #uom #degree #doctorofphysiotherapy #physicaltherapy #pt

KNEE CASE STUDY - Did you get the diagnosis right? A few questions I was asked about this case study: 1. Body positioning for anterior draw test: yes, I always put my knee on the foot instead of sitting on it. I feel I can get a much better grip and aren’t getting in the way of myself. 2. McMurrays grip and how I handle longer limbs: practice makes perfect!! I usually grab the whole lower leg and tuck it under my arm and use my body rather than holding it solely with my hands - some people have big legs! Learn to see what works well for your own body! 3. Can clients really relax when you do special knee tests: Absolutely not 🤣 Combine your tests with other subjective information such as tenderness, instability and gait patterns (knee giving way etc). It’s the main reason why I use both McMurrays and Thessalys. 4. How do you determine grades? Laxity is very subjective - I usually compare to the other side. You can also take into account other clinic signs such as swelling, impaired weight bearing as well as pain levels through ROM and special tests! Happy assessing! #physio #physiostudent #dpt #osteo #myo #osteostudent #chiro #university #physiotherapy #uom #degree #doctorofphysiotherapy #physicaltherapy #pt

Unraveling the Mystery: What’s Going on with this client? 🧐I am a big fan of taking a detailed subjective and allowing that to guide my physical assessments. If you find the right information, you will be able to confidently choose the tests that matter most. In private practice, we only have a limited time to assess, treat and reassess, whilst also creating a plan for the clients rehab - so becoming efficient in this process is vital!Pay close attention to the movements, tests, and observations in this video – can you guess what might be the diagnosis? 🕵️‍♀️📚#physio #physiostudent #dpt #osteo #myo #osteostudent #chiro #university #physiotherapy #uom #degree #doctorofphysiotherapy #physicaltherapy #pt

The most important thing is to ensure you can get your client back to plyometric work pain-free. This is often either missed or clients will fall off rehab before they get to this stage. I want to share some basic plyometric progressions that have been a game-changer in some of my client’s rehab - they are simple to do but will cover the tendinopathy priniciples we need to address!Remember, folks, slow and steady wins the race! 🐢 Apply your foundation principles first and get clients to their final stages of their rehab🏃🏻‍♀️
