Irish Martinez – Primal Myotherapy

Introducing Irish:

Hello, my name is Irish and I’m a Myotherapist at Primal Physiotherapy. I completed my Myotherapy studies at RMIT University and I am currently on the way to finishing my Health Science degree at Torrens University!

As you can probably tell, I am a big advocate for education and continuous learning, which is what drew me to Primal. In the dynamic realm of healthcare, I’m enjoying being a perpetual student, always on the lookout to develop my skills and experience. For me, it’s not just about acquiring knowledge; it’s about continuously improving my practice and ultimately, enhancing the well-being of my clients.

Aside from Myotherapy, I completed a certificate in Complex Physical Therapy for the management of lymphoedema. This qualification has opened up doors for me to work with clients with chronic oedema from cancer surgery, venous conditions, and sports injuries. One of my special interests includes fitting custom-made and ready-to-wear compression garments. I understand that each client is unique, with individual needs and preferences, and I like to take the time to assess these factors to ensure a precise and comfortable fit.

My philosophy of holistic care goes beyond treatment; it’s about fostering genuine connections and empowering clients to take charge of their well-being. My approach to myotherapy is grounded in effective communication, nurturing relationships, and building meaningful connections with each individual I work with.

I prioritise open dialogue, actively listening to clients’ concerns, and understanding their unique needs. By establishing trust and rapport, I aim to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves and actively participating in their myotherapy journey.

Outside of work, I enjoy keeping active by taking my greyhound, Cloud, on many long walks. As a retired racing greyhound, she appreciates the opportunity to stretch her legs and explore the outdoors with me! Our favorite spots include the You Yangs, the Werribee River trail, and the Williamstown Coastal Loop.

These walks serve as a reminder of the importance of balance and self-care in my life. In the midst of a busy schedule, it reminds me to make time to prioritise my own well-being that I advocate for in professional practice. By honoring my own needs and nurturing a sense of balance in my life, I aim to set a positive example for my clients and colleagues alike!

If our shared values resonate with you, I’m genuinely thrilled at the hope of meeting you at Primal Physiotherapy!
