Jennifer Hoang – Primal Physiotherapist

Introducing Jen:

Hi there, my name’s Jen, and I am a physiotherapist at Primal Physiotherapy. I completed my Master’s in Physiotherapy Practice at Swinburne University of Technology as well as a Bachelors of Science with a major in Physiology at Monash University. Outside of work, I have a strong passion for fitness and sports, especially Muay Thai and strength and conditioning. This stemmed from learning taekwondo as a child and enjoying the movements, discipline and art of the sport and fitness. I then learnt Muay Thai and combined it with training at the gym, which has taught me how to look after my body and educate myself in different human anatomy. I also found great joy in helping and educating others in the sport and gym field, guiding them to a great trajectory into their desired goals. WIth the love for movement, exercise as medicine and therapy, and helping others, I found myself driven to choose physiotherapy as my life-long goal.

In my spare time, I am a self-proclaimed foodie, where I occasionally review chicken nuggets for friends and family. I also love to go to cafes and hidden finds, so if there are any places you would recommend, let’s have a chat about it! I also love to try new activities, like rock climbing, hiking, exploring different artists at concerts and venturing out to different cities with friends.

My main motivator is the experience of being able to help others, whether it be their physical health or if they just need someone to talk to. I aim to lead people into surpassing their baseline levels, and going above and beyond to be the best version of themselves.

My personal biggest accomplishment was seeing my proud family cheer for me as I got awarded my Masters Degree certificate for Physiotherapy. Seeing how my family has worked hard to ensure a bright future for myself, I pushed myself to work my hardest for myself and for them. Hence, the pride and joy from my parents’ face as I came up to them after my graduation, is something I will never forget.

I believe in patient-centred care to be viewed in a holistic manner rather than what someone simply shows up to the workplace with. This value personally arises from my own experience with healthcare and surrounding clinicians who have looked at all aspects of my life rather than immediate or apparent problems.

My journey started with doing a Personal Training qualification, with the intention of building the fundamentals of my knowledge of the human body and how exercise can help us in all dimensions of health. I have also looked at injury prevention and managing game day injuries as a sports trainer for the Ashburton United Soccer Club. This has provided an opportunity to keep up to date with evidence-based practice and always researching to aid my clients.

In our sessions, I aim to apply patient-centred care and look at what you prioritise the most, whether it be getting back into training or wanting to be able to spend time with family and friends. I provide tailored plans on what is most suited and works best for you, and include a mixture of short and long-term solutions to ensure longevity and exceed expectations of what you may think there is to a physiotherapy session with me.

I look forward to getting to know you!
